Track Endorsement

You asked – we listened. If you’ve entered the 2017 Chrome Expression Passenger (DYM) Sessions at Hampton Downs this August, we’re offering a track day endorsement – meaning your pride and joy can be covered while you’re taking part in the Passenger (DYM) sessions over the weekend. This is a first for us, and we’re excited to see if we can continue to offer this at other events. See below for a few FAQs and all the legal stuff – don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions.

How can I get the endorsement?
We’re offering this endorsement to anyone with our Wheels Comprehensive policy taking part in the Chrome Expressions Passenger (DYM) Sessions, Hampton Downs, August 5th and 6th 2017. Give us a call on 0800 501 508 and we’ll be able to get you sorted.

How much will it cost?
If you take out the endorsement before 5 August, you’ll only have to pay $100 to get covered. We will be offering the policies on the weekend for $125.

What are the restrictions?
As with any insurance – there are a number of things that need to happen to ensure you’re covered:

  • You must have an existing Wheels Comprehensive policy
  • Drivers must follow all rules set out by Chrome Expression Sessions and Premier Events staff
  • Drivers must have held a full licence for a minimum of 2 years
  • Cover under the endorsement is restricted to named drivers only and liability cover only covers you to drive your own car
  • The maximum we will pay for accidental loss to your car is $20,000 (or your sum insured if it is less) and for liability is $10,000 (see below for full details)
  • An increased excess will apply to claims under this endorsement – twice your standard excess, with a minimum of $1,000
  • The endorsement is not available for exotic cars, race cars, drag or drift cars
  • Cars must have a warrant of fitness issued for the way the car has been set up for use on the day

Why should I be getting this endorsement?
Your Wheels Comprehensive policy does not provide any cover when your car is being used on a race track. This is the same for most motor vehicle policies. Having a safety net that extends past the gates of the racetrack will provide that extra level of protection for if the worst happens.

Your NAC Wheels Car Comprehensive policy is amended as follows:

Section 1: Loss to your car

  1. Notwithstanding the policy exclusion of cover when your car is being used on a racetrack, you are covered for sudden and accidental loss to the car that happens while [insert driver name] is driving the car in Drive Your Mates (DYM) sessions organised by Premier Events NZ at Hampton Downs on the 5th and 6th of August 2017 (‘Endorsement Period’).
  2. Cover is only provided whilst the car is being driven by [insert driver name] (‘the Driver’).
  3. Any claim made is subject to an excess of [insert figure].
  4. The most we’ll pay Under ‘Section One – Loss to your car’ is the market value of the car up to a maximum of $20,000 or the sum insured, whichever is the lesser.
  5. The following sections are deleted from ‘Section One – Loss to your car’ for the Endorsement Period:
    • Excess Protection
    • Fatal Injury
    • NAC Road side
    • Road clearing costs

Section 2: Liability

  1. Notwithstanding the policy exclusion of cover when your car is being used on a racetrack, you’re covered for your legal liability and legal costs and expenses arising from accidental loss to anyone else’s property or accidental bodily injury to any person occurring caused in connection with your use of the car in the Passenger (DYM) Sessions during the Endorsement Period.
  2. The most we’ll pay in total for claims for accidental loss to anyone else’s property or accidental bodily injury to any person is $10,000.
  3. There is no cover under this endorsement for any loss or liability caused by or in connection with any failure to follow any rules or instructions as prescribed by Premier Events NZ.
  4. There is no cover under this endorsement if the car does not have a current Warrant of Fitness issued for the configuration of the car as it is being used in the Passenger (DYM) Sessions.
  5. The cover provided by this endorsement ceases immediately if the Driver is removed from participation in the event by officials for failing to follow rules or instructions for the DYM Sessions as prescribed by Premier Events NZ.
