With just one phone call you'll get prompt and professional help for locked-in keys, flat batteries, empty fuel tanks, flat tyres and breakdowns wherever you are in New Zealand

If you purchase or renew a NAC Insurance comprehensive car or motorbike insurance policy after 1 October 2006, your vehicle is eligible for NAC Roadside.

Our roadside assistance benefit provides you with a maximum of two call outs per year. You and any person named on the policy schedule can receive assistance in any of the following situations:

NAC Roadside AssistanceFlat Battery/Jump Start
If you find yourself with a flat battery, we'll jump start your vehicle. If a battery replacement is required, this can be co-ordinated by NAC Roadside Assistance.*

Out of Fuel
We'll deliver 5 litres of petrol or diesel - free of charge.

Lost/Locked Keys
We will attempt to unlock the vehicle or if appropriate, transport your vehicle to the nearest place of safety or repair.

Flat Tyre
NAC Roadside Assistance will fit a spare wheel and if requested, provide a referral to a reliable repairer or supplier.

Towing (excluding Accident)
If the vehicle cannot be mobilised or accessed at the roadside (public roads only), NAC Roadside Assistance will arrange for the nearest repairer or place of secure storage.

Note: storage costs are the responsibility of the caller.
If you were towing a trailer or sidecar at breakdown, it will be transported to the nearest place of safety.

Accident, Theft, Vandalism
If the owner's vehicle has been immobilised due to an accident, theft or vandalism, NAC Roadside Assistance will provide advice to the owner. Roadside Assistance can also arrange accommodation, taxi, rentals, etc.*

Operator Assistance
In the event of a breakdown, accident or medical emergency the operator can relay urgent messages to your family, friends or business associates.

Travel Direction
Should you become lost or require travel directions, the operator can provide help and assistance on how to reach your planned destination.

The following exclusions apply to the NAC Roadside Assistance benefit:
  1. Customers who do not hold a current NAC Insurance Comprehensive Policy.
  2. Any call outs over the two call out limit, during the insurance year.
  3. Costs relating to parts, labour and any associated costs from the repair of the insured vehicle under the assistance programme, including but not limited to replacement batteries and tyres etc, shall be at the owners/drivers expense.
  4. Vehicles used in racing, rallies, speed or duration testing or any practice thereof.
  5. Rental vehicles, couriers and taxis do not qualify for the Roadside Assistance benefit
  6. Claims arising from the loss or damage to the contents of the vehicle.
  7. Claims arising from a recurring electrical or mechanical limit resulting from improper maintenance or servicing where a known fault and repair has been neglected.

  9. Situations where the vehicle is disabled by floods, snow affected roads, or is not accessible due to adverse conditions
  10. Vehicles being bogged in Off Road conditions and not accessible by normal two or four wheel drive recovery vehicles.
  11. Vehicles located off public roads (other than private residence) that are not accessible by normal two or four wheel drive recovery vehicles.
  12. Any situation where you are not going to be with your vehicle when NAC Roadside attends your callout.
  13. Vehicles not displaying a current vehicle registration certificate and warrant of fitness.
