PURCHASING A NEW CAR
The car market in New Zealand provides a large amount of choice to buyers, particularly in the second hand market. When looking at purchasing, there are a number of points you should consider.
Consider purchasing mechanical breakdown insurance cover, as this gives you peace of mind that if something goes wrong with the car, you will not be out of pocket.

Always remember that if you think a car looks cool and desireable, then most likely car thieves are thinking the same. Cars that are stolen more frequently than others, will always have a higher insurance premium because they cost the insurance companies more in claims.
NAC Insurance specialises in insuring these higher risk vehicles, however it is always helpful to know which cars
these are.
Vehicles that may be considered "High Risk" by Insurers
- All cars including station wagons made in Japan which are fitted with turbochargers or superchargers;
- All cars, station wagons designated as GT or GTR;
- Any Ford, Commodore or other vehicle that has an engine over 4000cc or V8;
- Popular Japanese vehicles such as Subaru WRX, Nissan Skyline, Mitsubishi EVO, and other vehicles that pose a theft risk.
